Czoz collects the clean packaging that piles up in pharmacies and clinics: shipping boxes, ice packs, gel packs, unused sharps containers and empty alcohol pad packaging. We sort it and rescue what we can for reuse or recycling. All proceeds go to PillSaver, our patient-access nonprofit.
Each kind of packaging gets its own box, its own sorting rules and its own rescue route. Here’s how each one moves from collection to rescue.
Shipping boxes
CollectFlatten clean corrugated boxes and stack them for the next pickup.
SortPeel or black out every patient and shipping label. Pull out tape-heavy, wet or soiled boxes.
RescueSturdy boxes go back into use. Worn ones go to cardboard recycling.
Labels with patient information are handled under a business associate agreement (BAA).
Ice packs
CollectReturn intact, unopened ice packs in their own tote, kept apart from trash.
SortCheck each pack for leaks and tears. Damaged packs are set aside.
RescueIntact packs are cleaned and offered for reuse in shipping.
We accept only clean, intact packs. We never accept anything that held medication contents.
Gel packs
CollectBag clean gel packs separately from ice packs.
SortSorted by size and condition. Leaking or punctured packs are set aside.
RescuePacks in good condition are offered for reuse. The rest go out by the route their label or local rules call for.
Never cut open gel packs or pour gel down a drain.
Sharps containers
CollectWe only take new, unused, sealed sharps containers, such as surplus or overstock.
SortWe check each one is unopened and in date, if it has a date.
RescueUnused containers go to clinics and programs that need them.
Used or filled sharps containers are never reused, opened or collected by Czoz. Dispose of them under your state and local rules, or through your facility’s licensed medical-waste service. Never put sharps in recycling.
Empty alcohol pad packaging
CollectCollect empty wrappers and the cartons they come in. Pads must be removed and used up.
SortCartons go with cardboard. Foil wrappers are sorted separately.
RescueCartons are recycled with cardboard. We’re still testing recycling routes for the foil wrappers.
Empty packaging only. No used pads and nothing with blood or body fluids on it.
How a pickup works
Agree
We sign a BAA with your facility before the first pickup.
Box it
Your team keeps each stream in its own labeled box.
Pick up
We collect on demand or on a regular schedule.
Rescue
We sort it, reuse what’s safe to reuse, recycle the rest, and send the proceeds to PillSaver.
Packaging in. Patient access out.
Czoz exists to fund PillSaver, our nonprofit that helps patients get the medications they’re prescribed. Every dollar of proceeds from rescued packaging goes to PillSaver.
